I avoided this series like a plague because I thought it would be your typical edgy black haired generic mc fantasy type story so everytime I encountered SS fans I used to just s*it on them. HOWEVER once I actually started reading this I was enlightened, this junior had eyes but failed to see mount tai.
I have no complaints about this webnovels it is simply peak and Cassie is the goat ❤️🩹
It is one of the best stories i read in a while i love each and every character and how they interact with each other. (kai and sunny interaction are always the best.)
Ss is too goated .The lore,wb,story, chr dev they were written perfectly not perfectly but good enough . Every arc is better than the prev one . I would recommend this ,if u love apocalyptic world with mindblowinglore, gods, demons and mc with not so op from the beginning thrive for power and struggle to survive
Well, it's SS, with Amazing lore, Impressive writing, unparalleled world-building, and truly astounding as a novel. But if it has one flaw, it's that it sometimes takes too long for a particular story point to bloom.
I love this story because of its world and its characters.
Places like the tomb of Ariel have such interesting and unique characteristics that make the story so much better. Every different environment feels alive and teeming with lore, danger, and mystery that keeps me interested. Additionally, the world feels alive and changing as if everything keeps on turning even outside of the perspective we are currently reading.
The characters, the protagonist included, are also amazing. The growth of Sunny from a paranoid survivor to a brave fighter struggling between his desire for freedom and desire for companionship is handled very well and I genuinely don't know which one Sunny will choose in the end. The supporting and side characters have their own dilemmas to deal with as well, such as Cassie's struggle with fate or Nephis's destructive ambition. Every character feels unique and human thanks to their flaws and inner conflicts that make this story really enjoyable.
If I was to outline some flaws with this story however, it would be both the pacing and the grammar. G3 has a tendency to fill some chapters with waffle or useless tangents about aspects of the power system or something else that readers are already are aware of. This drags the pacing of the story quite a lot and can make some chapters a slog to read. Additionally, G3 spends a bit too long on some arcs, namely the first part of volume 7, that really should have been outlined and then time skipped to be honest. The grammar issue is not that G3's English is bad, it is just not very varied, the same adjectives like "harrowing" are repeated too often and it just feels off. This is somewhat minor though.
Finally, I've seen some people say the dialogue feels weird or bad, and I understand where this is coming from, The dialogue is sometimes unnatural. However, personally I see this more as a result of character traits due to poor social lives. I wouldn't expect Sunny or Nephis to be very eloquent and I think it fits their characters being a bit awkward. Although I can see how it would be a bit off putting.
Overall, Shadow Slave is a great story with a few flaws that prevent it from being a masterpiece, but I will say that I still love this book and would absolutely recommend to any who are wondering if they should give it a read. Especially people who love rich lore and expansive worlds.
P.S: the system in this story is barely even a system, it is just an information organiser and there are no categories like "strength: 10" that I personally hate in system stories so this one is perfectly fine if your looking to escape the system genre.
Let's see, first of all SS isn't a mid novel by any standard. Any one claiming so is definitely full of fluff and hot air.
As for if it's peak? Well that would depend on a couple of factors. So far after 2k+ chapters, I have to say that the plot is very well written, the main characters have decent enough depth, the storyline is tight- knit and fluid.
Overall I'd give it an 8.5/10. Not any higher because of my personal requirements for a solid MC are not all met, but that's subjective.
Objectively, if you want quality, you should try this.
Amazing series would highly recomend to first time readers because it lets you vizualize the scenes extremely well. also i must say this might be the GOAT of isekai novels.
Aaa i am addicted to this super bad.
The uniqueness and world building is so fcking peak, imagining the landscapes, the large scale wars really takes your breadth away.
The battles and lore is one of the best. The fight scenes give me so much adrenaline and lore is soooo juiccyyyy and well structured like— stuff from beginning of novel is thrownback to 2k+ ch and it's insane.
Sunny's character development is also insane. He values friendships and relationships but also power, and we see his struggles and experience his pain.
All in all deserving of the #1 rank, and it steadily gets better
This novel is best novel I have ever read, compelling storytelling, well crafted world building, such a unique story it's a masterpiece that I will never forget
This novel is good definitely read it, recommend for everything and everyone on this site, everything is peak fiction
This novel isn't worth making enemy out of nixqe who knows me better than my parents
