Su Ming is an amazing portaginst, the world is fucking horrifying, amazing characters, themes, development, everything is amazing

If you are starting the Ergen novels, you can start with this if you're going chronologically

This was the first book by Ergen that I finished and I can say that reading this story about Su Ming's determination was magnificent. The ending was spectacular and perfectly matched the idea of the book, from beginning to end. And the miraculous foreshadowings? I have no words to describe them. I will miss reading about Su Ming; he is, without a doubt, one of the best and most tragic protagonists I have ever read.

The Second Best Cultivation Novel: Pursuit of the Truth

In a world where cultivation novels often follow repetitive formulas, Pursuit of the Truth shines as a rarity. Written by Er Gen, this work takes the word “cultivation” beyond power and arrogance: here it's about loneliness, truth, sacrifice, and personal transformation.

Its protagonist, Su Ming, is not just another clone of the typical invincible cultivator. He is human, fragile, obsessed with finding answers. He doesn't seek blind revenge or becoming the strongest just for ego. He wants to understand the truth behind the world, behind pain, behind time.

Throughout the story, the tone becomes increasingly introspective, dark, and profound. The narrative isn't afraid to stray from traditional battles to explore memory, loss, identity, and time as living elements, almost like other characters.

And why is it the second best? Because while it may not have the level of structural perfection of Reverend Insanity, nor the hyper-connected universe of Renegade Immortal, Pursuit of the Truth strikes a unique emotional note, leaving a lasting impact on those looking for more than just power-ups and mystical techniques.
