I'd say it's lacking in storytelling and has a mediocre start. But the characters interactions are better than other novels, the setting is well thought out, and power system is entertaining which is all I'm looking for in a novel, so I'll give it a 5.

I find it unusual to find such a well written story with such a generic name. Although it started with a light-hearted tone and the usual trope of transmigration into another world with a golden finger "The SYSTEM", but this story certainly isn't one with a convenient system providing protagonist everything he will need and more even before the next arc starts. Below the comedic undertone lies a dark world of sinister intension and treachery. The protagonist is trying to find young masters to face slap but is getting his ass handed to him every time. Story doesn't revolve around protagonist portraying him as some genius but as a minor character playing pawn in games and schemes of established giants . Protagonist realises that is a pawn early on and he needs to be a good one if he doesn't want to be thrown away, atleast until he has enough strength. Situation just doesn't make it so that he ends up the ultimate winner after every arc, he only ends up getting used , bruised and minor gains. Kind characters are not the one for this story. This story certainly fits well with how a strength based cultivation world where law of the jungle works should be against the ones where host gets a thick and absurd plot armor along with kind grandpa, shallow heroines who are as dumb as a rock, arrogant enemies who have holes in their brains and end up getting used by the protagonist. There is a lot more I would like to write but let's not spoil it.

The world structure is also very well defined even with multiple power system each with their own unique features. Protagonist doesn't get to jump levels as you can guess with the name " passive system" . System doesn't make him an absolute genius even in same power level but it does make him versatile. Overall it's one of the best cultivation novel out there.

Disclaimer: I have not finished reading this novel (about 900chapters read) and I plan to drop it. I might come back but it's unlikely. It was good while it lasted. Reasons listed below.

This review will deliver a short summary of the main relevant factors for starting this novel (system, translation, interactions, characters).

This novel is about a someone from earth who reincarnates in a cultivation world. The world building is generic, however, the cultivation system employed makes it a novelty, nonetheless.

It follows the main character as he finds his place in this new world where he goes from being lonely to someone who cares about others and wants to protect them.

The cultivation system is unique (distinguished from other novels). The novel expounds on different stages of cultivation heavily and in detail.

The mc gains a passive system and dares not question its origin at the beginning. The system grants points for passive actions taken, e.g. being attacked, cursted at, ridiculed etc. The system provides the mc with almost everything. It's just the battles that mc has to fight that the system doesn't do for him.

The translation quality is superb until chapter 420 more or less, after which the quality drops drastically. In the future chapters the tranlation is either straight up machine translation or someone put minimal effort to just get through it. I have counted over ten names for the mc. Names get translated literally sometimes. Sentences don't make sense or follow chinese sentence structure which lacks some defining features of the English language making them sound awkward or ununderstandable. The cultivation stages get different names which can be confusing. Overall, most chapters are easy to read and understand, just the rare bunch that, though hard to get through, doesn't affect much if you skim through and grasp the changing names and cultivation stages.

The interactions deliver a rich nuance of intelligence, comedy and character. Most of the time the mc is forced to go up against people far higher than his cultivation level, where he uses his conversational skills to divert the trouble instead of fighting strength.

The characters are very nuanced and diverse. They get backgrounds and traits which make them memorable. There are many characters which give off mc energy.

The reason I am dropping this novel is imo a plot hole that has huge consequences that I cannot look past. A major event in the novel shouldn't be a plot hole which in this case unfortunately has taken place.

With that said, enjoy the novel if you decide to read, fellow daoist. I wish you a fun journey whether it be in real life or your reincarnations experiencing the Dao in other universes.
