The main character is in a supposed "ideal human" project but still doesn't know how to socialise. The author seems to be trying to show of their taste in books. They really try to show how different he is from other people just because he reads books that most people have to read for their 8th grade assignment. The main character tries too hard to sound like a sigma male.
