Shadow Slave is an absolute masterpiece that deserves far better than the childish review-bombing it’s currently facing. From its gripping worldbuilding to its complex character arcs, this novel doesn’t hand you cheap thrills – it earns every emotional moment. Sunny isn’t some mindless OP protagonist; he’s strategic, flawed, and constantly evolving. The challenges he faces aren’t just physical – they’re psychological, existential, and deeply human.

Yes, there’s grinding. Yes, there’s training. But that’s what makes the progress feel real. If you’re here for empty power fantasy, go read something else. This is a dark, rich, carefully crafted world that rewards patience and attention.

And to the so-called “critics” giving 0.5-star ratings just because Reverend Insanity got criticized: grow up. Review-bombing doesn’t make your favorite novel better – it just makes you look petty and insecure. Shadow Slave didn’t deserve this backlash, and anyone with real taste in storytelling knows that.

Cope harder. Shadow Slave is here to stay.

It really is an amazing novel, with a gripping plot, strong characters, and moments that stay with you long after you've finished reading.

Just finished Shadow Slave and I honestly don't know what to do with myself now 😭 This story was everything. The world, the tension, the growth... and Sunny. God, I didn't expect to love that guy so much. One of the best MCs I've ever read, hands down. Nothing else hits like this.

I didn’t expect to get this hooked, but Shadow Slave pulled me in fast. The story has this gritty, immersive world that feels alive, and Sunny as a main character is just… different in the best way. He’s smart, funny in a dark kind of way, and his growth feels real. There’s a lot of mystery, danger, and emotional depth that sneaks up on you. Honestly, one of the most addictive reads I’ve picked up in a long time. Also my second novel after tbate

It doesn't have any deep philosophies or enlightening lessons. It's more of an autobiography in nature. A story about the life of the last Shadow Slave. A narrative following the adventures of a man that by all means should've been a the final villain if not for a flaw of himself.

It's a beautiful story. Sometimes it features horrors beyond my mortal comprehension. Sometimes it's as sweet as sugar. Other times it's gritty and dark. But all in all, it as an amazing story. It's worth every second you'll spend reading it.

A masterpiece novel with a great main character and relevant side characters that have their own development (most of them), peaks (that do not involve ranking up) unique goals and are not the subordinates/ pawns of the main character.

Sunless the main character is very well written. He's very realistic and complex. He is a relatably flawed character and is not the typical perfect nonchalant mc. His growth and journey is beautiful as he finds his "home" and his purpose in life through many different character arcs.

My personal favourite mc's are the ones whose purpose and goals have build-up and are a result of development instead of mc's whose goals are instantly given at the beginning and never change (the latter is not bad if executed well but will still always be inferior to the former) Some examples of the former (other than Sunny) are Thorfinn from Vinland Saga and Kaladin from Stormlight Archive. They gain insight and growth throughout their journey and have many internal conflicts through which they develop and eventually find their purpose. These mc's will always feel more human and have more effort put into writing them. Their growth and journey is also shown and not told.

The world building, lore and power system are top notch with the world being vast and creative, the power system (only inferior to LotM imo) having symbolism of ascending to Godhood in each rank (instead of just rank 1, rank 2) and the lore having a whole mythology-like history with multiple eras and Gods.

It does have moments with slow pacing and repeated content. And many times the author uses unnecessary adjectives. But overall it's a wonderful novel. I definitely recommend it. READ IT NOW, THIS IS PEAK FICTION

Shadow Slave completely surprised me, in the best way. I picked it up out of curiosity and found myself instantly hooked. The world is dark, dangerous, and incredibly well-built, but it’s the characters that really pull you in. Sunny, the main character, starts off rough around the edges, but watching him grow and adapt to the brutal world he's thrown into is honestly one of the best parts. He’s clever, a little cynical, and strangely relatable. The story balances action, mystery, and emotion so well it’s intense, but it also knows when to slow down and let the characters breathe. I also loved how the power system felt logical and added real tension to every fight. It’s not just about leveling up it’s about surviving, and that makes everything feel more meaningful. If you’re into gritty fantasy with heart and depth, Shadow Slave is absolutely worth diving into.

Sunny is a poor orphan who awakens as an Awakened, only to receive a curse instead of a blessing. Cynical, smart, and driven by survival, he fights to rise in a brutal world full of monsters and hidden secrets.🤣🤣🤣

This is the best work of fiction I've read so far. Cheers to those who don't read it, because you're missing out on an epic story. First-rate fiction! I tell you.

Probably my favorite novel. Took me quite a few days to get out of it after i caught up and still think about it even after having read like 5 other 1500+ novels while stacking chapters on it. Very highly recommend reading this. power system is fresh, characters are well written, Peak action scenes, and overall story is fluent. Definitely deserves rank 1 spot.
